Stream: Blondes - self-titled LP (and album track "Wine" download)

Blondes debut self-titled LP, which you can stream in its entirety over at Drowned in Sound sits somewhere between the glitch-loop melodic techno of The Field and the sheets of ambient sonic textures of Walls.  The duo consisting of Sam Haar and Zach Steinman are really offering up something special here and we for one can't wait to get our hands on it.  The double CD (second CD features remixes by the likes of Andy Stott, Laurel Halo, Teengirl Fantasy and more) will be releasing on February 7th on RVNG and you can pre-order it here.  You can also listen to or download the brilliant album track "Wine" below:

Nina Kraviz - "Nina Kraviz" LP

Releasing her debut album on Radio Slave's Rekids imprint, Nina has set the bar high for electronic albums of 2012. Given her previous track record, her collaborations with  artists such as Hard Ton and King Aus and the fact that she uses her own vocals on the album we are looking forward for this Detroit tech house release.  Preview it below:

Luke Abbott - "Brazil" (Gold Panda remix)

We missed this track which was brought to light around a month ago, yet we still thought we shoudl bring it to your attention.  Gold Panda is a known Red Cup favorite and there hasn't been a track of his date that we haven't enjoyed. The same applies with this remix for Luke Abbott's "Brazil".  As is also evidenced by another relatively recent track "MPB", Gold Panda is playing more with bell and tin textures.  Listen to the track below:

Gang Colours - Fancy Restaurant (MachineDrum remix)

After a brilliant EP and a massive remix for Bonobo's "Eyes Down", Machinedrum returns with another remix, this time for Gang Colour's "Fancy Restaurant".  On this track Machinedrum combines his signature sound while  dipping into some Metalheadz era D&B breaks. Listen to the track below:

Essáy & CoMa - "Deceptive"

We've long professed that Essáy, Heidelberg's very own producer of emotional electronic music, has a unique ability to deliver mounds of atmosphere in his tracks and this collaboration with CoMa is no exception.  Listen to the early-morning epic ambient anthem "Deceptive" below (and download it for free by clicking 'buy this track'):

Actress - "Meets Shangaan Electro" 12"

Needless to say all of us here at Red Cup are extremely excited to hear Actress' take on the shangaan style to be released the label Honest Jon's.  Even more so after hearing the preview of the "Meets Shangaan" 12" which you can also stream below.  The UFO chirps and alien zaps are in sharp contrast to the source material providing an unsettling and surreal listening experience.

Preview: Skudge - "Below" (Boddika Acid Refix)

In more Boddika news, it seems as if the Londoner is touching base with his affection for old school acid house as is evidenced by this 303 infused remix of Skudge's "Below".  The track will be available as a split 12" with another Skudge remix by Cosmin TRG.  Preview the track below:

Pinch & Photek - Acid Reign (Pinch's Dubplate Mix)

Pinch, Tectonic labelhead a known fan of collaborations, and the legendary Photek who recently collaborated with Kuru on the excellent "Fountainhead", joined forces for the massive "Acid Reign".  Huge bass, big beats and a swingy slow tempo as expected with the addition of a catchy TB-303 lick.  Stream the track below:

Boddika & Joy Orbison - Mercy & Froth

These tracks have been floating around the internet in poor quality for a while now yet previews of each have finally been uploaded on Boddika's own Soundcloud page.  Both tracks of this brilliant collaborative effort will be released on the Sunklowun label that is also co-headed by the two scene heavyweights.  Both songs have an aura of having been meticulously crafted and while the tracks are grounded in techno both Boddika and Joy Orbison bring their own unique production choices to the table resulting in very unique sound. Stream big chunks of "Mercy" and "Froth" below:

Hyetal - "Searchlight" (Night Mix)

"Searchlight" was a highlight off Hyetal's Broadcast LP from last year.  The track is now getting special treatment in the form of a single release on Black Acre Records featuring what sounds like an alternate take by the Bristol based producer himself entitled "Night Mix".  The single will also feature a remix by the Mancunians Stay +.  Stream the Night Mix of Hyetal's "Searchlight" below:

Mark Van Hoen - "The Revenant Diary" LP

We're happy to announce that the legendary Mark Van Hoen will be releasing his his fifth solo album "The Revenant Diary" this time on Editions Mego records.  The founding member of Seefeel, mastermind behind Locust and Slowdive collaborator knows how to make noise.  His distinct sound is based around his mastery of tone, detail, harmonics and melody...a celebration of the potential of electronic music and an accomplishment in sound scultping.  According to the press release the basis of this album was recorded on "4-track tape, using a minimal set-up, reminiscent of his first early '80s musical adventures as a young teenager."  Aside from fans of the aforementioned projects, this is also music for fans of Boards of Canada, Bibio, The Field, The Orb etc.  As you can tell by the preview below this is bound to be one of the albums to look out for in 2012. We can't wait.

Mala - "Eyez VIP"

This limited one sided white label released on Mala's own DMZ records, is nearly sold out everywhere and is a dubstep banger from one of the genre's pionneers. As expected there is a lot of emphasis on rhythm and bassline here so boost your volume and EQs. Take a sneak peak at the sample below:

Photek & Kuru - "Fountainhead"

The track "Fountainhead" is a collaboration between Photek and Kuru to be featured on the !K7 DJ- KICKS: The Exclusives compilation releasing on March 26th. The track carries the title and the aesthetic of the 1943 Ayn Rand classic novel.  It's as banging as it is atmospheric and can be streamed below in its entirety:

Marcel Dettmann - "Landscape" EP

Marcel Dettmann's brand new Landscape EP is out this month on the Belgian label Music Man Records (which also released his Conducted mix) featuring a remix by Red Cup favorite Answer Code Request. Dettman's Landscape is surprisingly delicate affair in relation to the rest of his work with phased tin percussion, ambient pad washes and a single female vocal snippet driving the track to its conclusion.  The highlight here is Answer Code Request's remix who keeps the pads intact, pitches down the vocals and adds his characteristic heavy percussion.

SBTRKT - "Atomic Peace"

SBTRKT fans woke up to a neat surprise today in the form of a previously unreleased track on the masked producer's soundcloud page.  You can stream the melodic and melancholy "Atomic Peace" below, which features a sample from Mum's "Flow not so fast mountain radio".  It's the dreamiest tune we've heard from SBTRKT, yet it dates back to 2009 so we wouldn't exactly call it a new direction for the artist.

Ben Hoo - "Modal" EP

Following the brilliant "Marea" EP, this quality deep tech house release by Londoner Ben Hoo, out this month on the Kindish label, will definitely leave you asking for more. The "Modal" EP is a crisp and bubbly affair with atmospheric undertones that is both groovy and pensive. Listen to the EP below:

Clark - "Com Touch"

Warp veteran and expert soundsmith Clark is finally bringing out some new material in the form of his LP Iradelphic releasing on Warp Records on April 2nd.  Ahead of this long awaited release, the label shared album track "Com Touch" for our listening pleasure which you can also download for free by entering your e-mail here.  Although Clark has stated that he's going for a completely new sound, we can't help but notice that while "Com Touch" is certainly different to his last few releases on Warp, it sounds like a throwback to his earlier melodic work which is a welcome change in our book.  According to Clark, the album was recorded in various locations and features some collaborations with labelmate Bibio.  Exciting stuff.  Listen to the track below:

Listen: Motto Disco 01 - Kuedo "Sinking in the Datatank’"

Motto Berlin has just turned 3 years old and to celebrate they have asked friends, collaborators and people they admire to put together mixtapes with the idea that they should be played within the context of Bookstores. The first offering comes in the form of a playlist selected by a 2011 favorite of ours, Kuedo. The UK born / Berlin based artist recently released his critically acclaimed debut album Severant on the British label, Planet Mu and if you haven’t heard it already get crackin! Kuedo has curated this playlist entitled ‘Sinking in the Datatank’ specifically with the act of reading in mind, "delving into a hypnotic modern history of avant-garde electronics and rousing soundscapes".

Vessel (new TriAngle Signing) - Scarletta

This just in from the label's facebook page, Tri Angle's latest signing Vessel has  revealed a track entitled "Scarletta" which you can listen to below in its entirety.  Keeping true to the flawless release track record of last year, our favorite record label of 2011 is starting off the new year with a bang.  "Scarletta" is similar to some of the other output on the label in terms of melody and atmosphere yet the drumwork here is on a more experimental tip. A welcome development in an already established sound. We're very very excited to hear more from Tri Angle this year, including the recently announced debut EP by labelhead Robin Carolan.

Planet μ Double Post - New music from Ital and Mike Paradinas' Boiler Room set

Planet μ is one of our favorite record labels here at Red Cup with some strong releases in 2011 such as new material from Keep Shelly in Athens, Kuedo and Ital Tek. That being said, it's high time we gave the imprint the ol' double post treatment.

First up is one of the label's latest signing Ital (not to be confused with aforementioned label mate Ital Tek).  We've already posted an earlier non-Planet μ release of this artist's work which we were particularly fond of.  With growing buzz around his name, the label finally revealed a sneak peak into what we can expect from his debut LP Hive Mind releasing in February and boy are we excited.  Listen to the jittery ADD album opener cheekily entitled "Doesn't Matter (if you love him)" below:

Next up is label head and electronic music legend Mike Paradinas' (aka μ-ziq) set for the Boileroom.  The mix is filled to the brim with top notch footwork tracks, a genre he's responsible for bringing to the masses and to electronic music's sub-conscious (just listen to the footwork influence on tracks by Kuedo, Machinedrum and Evian Christ).  If your still not sold or you need some catching up this is a good place to start:

Bonobo - Black Sands Remixed

Bonobo's Black Sands was one of our favorite long players of 2010.  Throughout his multiple releases, the constantly morphing Ninja Tune artist has managed to maintain his signature organic beatmaking technique while keeping his ear to the ground and constantly sounding fresh.  The variety of artists remixing the Black Sands LP is a testament to his wide ranging appeal and influence.  Head over to the official site for Black Sands Remixed to enter your e-mail and download the footwork remix by Machinedrum (one half of Sepalcure) of single "Eyesdown" or stream the track below.   The impressive roster of Red Cup favorites offering remix work to this LP include Floating Points, Lapalux, Falty DL and Mark Pritchard.  Black Sands Remixed is out February 13th on Ninja Tune.

Morphosis - "The Tepco Report" EP

After one of our favorite LP of 2011, Morphosis take us on another vibrant electronic excursion with his new release "The Tepco Report" due end of January on Morphine Records.  "Exposure" is a beatless and pensive atmospheric track, while "Post Atomic Poetry" is a melodic techno track featuring the harsh leads and deep pads that we couldn't get enough of on "What Have We Learned" :

Decas - "The Lady Who Broke The Beat" EP

This non-digital release pressed exclusively on 180 gram vinyl by Uaudio and released by Decas is an ear pricking old-school techno EP. The drums rollin in on "1535 Revolvers" assuring a pure dance floor track, "Twelve Hours Reborn" is an ambient techno track with element of both BoC and Four Tet, while "The Lady Who Broke the Beat" is all 808 and 303. Listen to samples of the tracks below:

Developer - "Archive 1" EP

The Modularz imprint's sub-label Developer Archive's first release is a promising start to say the least.  Visually the exclusive to clear vinyl release also features provocative artwork, fitting to the music's sensual aesthetic. The track, which you can stream below, starts off with a melodic tease before the metallic rhythms and Detroit stabs tonally overtake the intro's initial direction.

Pinch - "Retribution" EP

Dubstep mastermind and Tectonic labelhead Pinch releases his "Retribution" EP on Swamp81 records.  With this EP (and his recent "Oh not not another dubstep producer playing house music" mix) Pinch is spearheading a dubstep infused techno sound that is more on the latter side of the music spectrum. DVS1 - "Break Away" EP

The title track of DVS1's "Break Away" EP released on Ben Klock's Klockwork label initially sounds like a staple four to the floor techno track. However, it is the subtle filter and reverb alterations on the synth stabs that make this track stand out. Listen to "Break Away" below:

Evian Christ - "Fuck it none of y'all don't rap"

Came across this ill beat by anonymous producer (Evian Christ) via Dummy.  The mysterious Evian uploaded a whole bunch of tracks on a youtube channel and all of them are actually superb.  We would agree with Dummy in that the vibe here is Clams Casino gone footwork, though it sounds like Evian is more into crystal clear textures rather than distorted soundscapes.  Listen to highlight "Fuck it non of y'all don't rap below":

Watch: CHLLNGR - "Change"

CHLLNGR released one of our favorite LPs of 2011 and while his dub influences were apparent, they never reared their head up as much as in this track which will be releasing on his next EP on Time No Place.  The animated video for the spacey dub extravaganza "Change" is a as brilliant as the track.  Watch the video or  stream/download the tune below:

Download: Anstam - "Born and Raised (Version)"

If you've read or heard an Anstam interview (rare as they are) then you know as well as we do that this isn't your ordinary guy.  If you've heard his music, you'll also know this isn't your ordinary Berlin based producer.  Anstam who has previously released work on Modeselektor's 50 Weapons, including his Dispel Dances LP and offered up 2 excellent remixes of Radioheads TKOL remix compilation (here's 1 and 2) just posted this wonderfully strange track on his soundcloud page.  The sense of dread and uneasiness combined with a wide eyed insatiable curiosity  seems to be omnipresent in his work and it definitely rears its head in "Born and Raised (Version)".  Listen to or download the track below or visit Anstam's soundcloud page to listen to the alternate version:

Guido - "Micro X" & "Vessel Dogs"

After his excellent debut LP "Anidea" on Punch Drunk Records, Bristol dubstep producer Guido  returns with a double A-side release in late January 2012 on Cargo Records.  "Micro X" is a jittery clap driven number combining bleeps and a cleverly sampled sitar, while on "Vessel Dogs" Guido further showcases his apparent love of all things string, this time through the eloquent use of a harp.  This is as layed back as it is rude.  Preview both tracks below:
