Modeselektor/Martyn - "Modeselektion Vol. 02" EP

 We've been slowly bringing you tracks from Modeselektor's Modeselektion Vol. 02, our favorite thus far being Anstam's "Observing the Patterns". Now you can check out two more exclusive songs to be featured on the mix: Modeselektor's own "Maik the Chicken" and Martyn's "Red Dancers".   Both tracks are in the same vein of each respective artist's recent work and are definitely worth a listen.  The two tracks are also sold separately on a special 12" release available before the second Modeselektion is due.  Listen to them below:

Martyn - "Red Dancers"

A few weeks ago, the Berlin based duo Modeselektor revealed that a track by Clark would feature on their second Modeselektion compilation.  Today they revealed yet another track to be featured on the compilation (also to receive a separate split 12" release with a new Modeselektor track) by Martyn.  Preview this dubstep/techno banger below:

Phon.o - Black Boulder LP

Wo.w....Phon.o has to be one of the most criminally underrated bass/post-dubstep/whatever-you-wanna-call it producers right now.  After the incredible double track Abaw 723 EP on the Monkeytown offshoot label 50 Weapons, Phon.o will be releasing on LP on the same label entitled Black Boulder.  Listen to three tracks from the LP below, including the title track and you're bound to get hooked.  These tracks exhibit pristine production and a techno aesthetic yet they also have an extremely catchy element that is usually not present in similar endeavors.  We highly recommend you keep this on your radar...

Clark - "Nordic Wilt" (Monkeytown 027)

In a surprise Soundcloud post revelation, Monkeytown, the label belonging to none other than the duo Modeselektor, announced that Clark's "Nordic Wilt" will be released on the imprint on June 29th.  The image for the track (spoiler alert) looks the cover artwork for ModeselektionVol. 2.  We still haven't understood if the track will get a separate release on the label, but we think it will just feature on the compilation seeing as Clark is a long-time Warp artist.  That being said "Nordic Wilt" has yet to see an official release despite many live edits circulating on the internet.  For more on Clark's upcoming LP Iradelphic check out our relevant post.  Listen to the massive "Nordic Wilt" below:

Download: Anstam - "Born and Raised (Version)"

If you've read or heard an Anstam interview (rare as they are) then you know as well as we do that this isn't your ordinary guy.  If you've heard his music, you'll also know this isn't your ordinary Berlin based producer.  Anstam who has previously released work on Modeselektor's 50 Weapons, including his Dispel Dances LP and offered up 2 excellent remixes of Radioheads TKOL remix compilation (here's 1 and 2) just posted this wonderfully strange track on his soundcloud page.  The sense of dread and uneasiness combined with a wide eyed insatiable curiosity  seems to be omnipresent in his work and it definitely rears its head in "Born and Raised (Version)".  Listen to or download the track below or visit Anstam's soundcloud page to listen to the alternate version:

50 Weapons Double Post - New Music from Marcel Dettmann and Anstam

50 Weapons the second label headed by Berlin-based duo Modeselektor (the other being Monkeytown), is one of the more free-thinking and diverse independant electronic music labels at the moment.  The label's roster relies on a techno foundation without adhering to the genre's purist limitations resulting in some interesting genre-defying music.  A good example of this is Phon.o's latest release, the massive "Abaw 723", which brings together elements of british bass music and dubstep funelling them through a berlin techno aesthetic.  On this double post we will talk about Marcel Dettmann's forthcoming release on the label, as well as Anstam's new record which came out last week.

Marcel Dettmann's "Deluge/Duel" 12" is only the16th release of the 50 Weapons record label and Dettmann's first on the imprint.  On "Deluge" the Berlin based Ostgut Ton artist and Berghain resident, offers up something different, obviously inspired by the label's open approach to techno.  Preview the track below or pre-order it here:

Next up is Anstam, a duo we know little about but whose recent remix of Radiohead's "Separator" we thoroughly enjoyed. The mysterious Anstam are amassing plenty of hype with their few yet high-quality releases and this intensely varied and bound-to-be-big LP, which draws influences from many genres of electronic music, is no exception. Watch: eLan - "Next 2 Last" Music Video

We've been big fans of eLan's chirpy chip-tuned Dilla sound ever since he was discovered and promoted  by Modeselektor through their Monkeytown imprint. After two brilliant EPs (Alligator Snaps and Fuzzy Numbers), the Californian beatmaker finally released his first LP on that label entitled "Next 2 Last", which features quite a few tracks from his previous short players, including the title track itself.  Watch this apt cartoony/performance video for "Next 2 Last" or preview the LP and order it at the Monkeytown site:

Phon.o - "ABAW 723"

Berlin based Phon.o just delivered a massive 12"- "ABAW 723 / Sad Happiness" which will be the15th release of Monkeytown offshoot 50 Weapons records. You can preview the A-side "ABAW 723" below, which sounds like a promising bass music banger with bleeps a plenty and playful vocal that's bound to get the dancefloor charged:
