Squarepusher - "Drax 2"

"Drax 2" is the second track to appear off Squarepusher's upcoming Ufabulum LP (you can listen to a few more on the live videos all over youtube) and it is every bit as mouth watering as "Dark Steering".  Squarepusher warned us  that the album would be "aggressive and melodic" and "Drax 2" is exactly that. Listen to it below:

Purity Ring - "Obedear"

We're huge Purity Ring fans over at Red Cup we're glad to see the duo signed to 4AD, one of our favorite record labels at the moment.  In light of the summer release of their debut album on the imprint, the duo have revealed yet another track (the other three "Loftcries", "Belispeak" and "Ungirthed" have been around for a loooong time).  "Obedear" sounds like a fusion of Zomby, Holy Other and Little Dragon...yeah that good. Listen to it below:

Stream: Lone - Galaxy Garden LP

We've been giving you bits and bobs off of Lone's Galaxy Garden EP such as this spectacular video trailer and the lead single "Crystal Caverns 1991".  Now we're happy to post a stream (via the Hype Machine) of the entire LP below.  As we expected Lone's sound, which journeyed through Dilla vs BoC instrumentals to technicolor techno, is now in full neon rave territory.  Listen to the Galaxy Garden LP in its entirety below, which also features a guest appearances from Machinedrum, another Red Cup favorite. The album is officially out on the first of May.

Alunageorge - "Just A Touch" (latest signing to Tri Angle Records)

Tri Angle Records haven't exactly been secretive regarding their passion for 90s R&B.  Many of the label's artists have turned to the genre for sample source material, while others, such as How to Dress Well, have offered their own nostalgic and gauzy lo-fi interpretation of the decade's aesthetic. The duo Alunageorge, the latest addition to the roster,  is not so much an interpretation of 90s R&B as a faithful recreation of the genre, especially in terms of vocals and lyrics.  While George Reid's production features rubbery and bouncy synths reminiscent of The Knife's work and a stretched and pitched down vocal drone that is oh-so-TriAngle, Aluna Francis' voice sounds like it could have been directly lifted from a relevant anthem of that era.  Listen to the track below or check it the entire EP which is available, in digital format only for the moment, on the Tri Angle website.

Lakker - Arc EP

We HIGHLY recommend you check out the Dublin-based duo Lakker's Arc EP just released on Blueprint.  All 4 tracks on this record stand out from the hordes of techno releases aiming for greatness yet ultimately falling short.  Opening track "BKRO" is a hypnotic warehouse techno banger with a creepy little melody.  The last track on the EP is a fun-loving fusion of many tones not often used in a techno context and sounds like some of the stuff Falty DL has been up to these day.  However, the highlights of the EP are the title track and "Ed" that similar and as good as the handful of Burial and Four Tet collaborations.  Listen for yourself below (you can also by the MP3s from the junoplayer below or order the physical release here):

Stream: Rustie - Essential Mix (BBC Radio 1)

Further promoting the case for over-the-top maximalist music, Glaswegian Warp artist Rustie (or the fried Mars bar of electronic music as we like to call him) just offered up his Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 performed on April 7th of this year.  The mix could turn any party into a sweaty body-colliding mayhem featuring new and old bangers from artists including the like-minded Hudson Mohawke, Clams Casino, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lone not to mention some of his own tracks (for a full playlist and upcoming tour dates head here).  This may not be for those still scavenging minimalist soundscapes for subtle and brief moments of genius professed by tiny echoed filter sweeps or those who revel in the hypnotic syncopation of a 10 minute track comprised of a single loop.  For the rest of us, Rustie, with the power of his comb over, is formidably ushering in a new sound whose volume and size cannot be ignored by definition.  Stream the entire mix below:

Listen: Gold Panda - "4"

UK producer Gold Panda has let loose another random instrumental titled "4." Give it a listen below, and here's his explanation of how the track came to be...

"A track I made on a korg es-1 in about 10mins and jammed out for my mate called “Infinite Livez” to freestyle on at a last minute gig/dj set thing in Berlin a while back and I hadn’t eaten much and also had to dj and I’m a shit dj but I just played a bunch of records anyway and Inf’ helped me out by freestyling for me. He’s a nice bloke and a great artist. I just made a cup of tea. Maybe I’ll invite him over."

Video: Slow Magic - "Youths"

Slow Magic dropped a video for “Youths” this morning. You’ve might already have heard some hype around his upcoming 8-track album, “▲” acting as a  follow up to the free mini EP that was dropped on bandcamp all the way back in August of last year. “▲” is out on April 30th via LebensStrasse Records. Watch the video directed by Brendan Canty and Conal Thomson below.

Kuedo - "Work, Live & Sleep In Collapsing Space"

Our friends over at Onomatopoeia recently posted this retro-futuristic video for Kuedo's "Ascension Phase", a highlight track off his 2011 long player "Severant" which also happened to be one of our favorite albums from that year.  Now Planet μ, announced that a new non-album single will be released in June entitled "Work, Live & Sleep In Collapsing Space" and featuring remixes by the recent Hyperdub recruit Laurel Halo and Claude Speeed.  The track, which was recorded in the same sessions as "Severant", is in the same vein as the music off that album yet with a bit more of a bite.  We're talking open-filter arpeggios, Vaggelis-esque lead synths and, of course, those rapid-fire hi-hats we love so much.  Head over to the Planet μ site to listen to the track and remixes here.

Video: Squarepusher: "Dark Steering"

Looking like some alternate version of Daft Punk or the video game Dead Space, the new visual for Squarepusher's "Dark Steering" from his forthcoming Warp release Ufabulum, out May 15 in the U.S. and May 14 in Europe have arrived. Created by Jenkinson himself, the robotic LED visuals act as a teaser of what we'll see on his upcoming tour.

Music and LED visuals by Tom Jenkinson
Camera Direction and Editing by Rollo Jackson
Director of Photography Carl Burke

Squarepusher on Dark Steering:
"For a while I had apocalyptic nightmares about trails of nuclear missiles in the night sky. So I aimed to recreate that strange combination of exhilaration, terror and sadness both visually and emotionally through this piece. It lead to the idea of a spacecraft leaving earth at vast speed to escape, but oddly the music also made me think of it flying through a library. So I generated the visual aspect such that, as the piece progresses, it seems as if the viewer is ever accelerating through massive corridors of books."

Watch: Clark - Black Stone (short film)

We've been bringing you many tracks off Clark's Iradelphic which has finally released and is available here.  To celebrate the album's release Warp released this short film directed by The Vikings and set to somber album track "Black Stone".  The track is a piano piece (Clark was classically trained) and the video features some of those bugs Clark seems to be so fond of. Watch it below:

Battles - "Rolls Bayce" (Hudson Mohawke Remix)

In the fourth and final installment of the Battles remix Dross Glop series, we finally get to hear Red Cup favorite and Scottish maximalist Hudson Mohawke's take on "Rolls Bayce".  The beats are huge yet the melodies fleeting and subtle.  A nice way to get into the summer mode.  Listen to the whole track below. For more details on the Gloss Drop releases head here.

Actor One - "Building Strike" (Ben Hoo Remix)

This bubbly remix of Actor One's "Building Strike" by Ben Hoo was brought to our attention earlier today by one of our readers (thanx Kelly) and we've been rocking it ever since.  The production is crisp and snappy exuding copious amounts of machine funk.  Loving the cover art too!  Listen to it below:

Martyn - "Red Dancers"

A few weeks ago, the Berlin based duo Modeselektor revealed that a track by Clark would feature on their second Modeselektion compilation.  Today they revealed yet another track to be featured on the compilation (also to receive a separate split 12" release with a new Modeselektor track) by Martyn.  Preview this dubstep/techno banger below:

Watch: xxxy - "I Know This Can't Be Love" (Music Video)

Check out this straightforward video for xxxy's "I Know This Can't Be Love" about a bouquet flowers bursting into flames.  The track revolves around a pitched-up r&b vocal and a shuffly beat similar to the sound of Sepalcure.  Watch below:
