Download: D/R/U/G/S - Amphibian EP

Mancunian producer D/R/U/G/S' sound is difficult to pigeonhole in terms of genre, yet one can definitely pin point some recurring themes.  For one he does not shy away from the buzzier side of synth textures, which are often complimented by deep ambient pads. He also places a lot of emphasis on melodies and manages to deliver unique manipulations of vocal snippets, a trick that many electronic producers resort to these days yet fail to do so creatively.  All of the above holds up on the three track EP that he is offering up for free in exchange for your e-mail (fill in the widget below for your own copy).  Opening track "Hemisphere" is a definite highlight and the froggy bassline could easily be the inspiration for the EP's title. Also noteworthy is the third track, "Ring of Endless Light" that sounds a bit like something FSOL would have produced in 2012.  If you're interested in catching D/R/U/G/S and you reside in the UK, check out the details of his tour with Delphic here. Preview: Joker - "Old Era"

While the Purple Don's debut LP The Vision as a whole was not much to write home about, Joker's signature take on dubstep remains on the radar of must fans of the genre and continues to impress on the few releases, alt takes and remixes since.  The latest track to surface on his soundcloud "Old Era" (to be released on his own imprint Kapsize) is no exception.  The arpeggiated blips, a harsh bassline, reminiscent of Squarepusher textures but obviously more sequenced, combined with his efficient dubstep drum patterns are everything we loved about Joker and more, not to mention the artwork is pretty amazing (and purple) too.  Preview the track below:

Back from hiding, Red Cup contributor and Athens based producer mis-bit has offered up one of his latest tracks for our casual release output Rec'd Up.  With influences ranging from the Tri Angle roster to the tense atmosphere in Athens, Greece mis-bit delivers a dark and pensive ghost-hop number entitled "Over//Under" which you can listen to or download below:

Stream: Holy Other - Held LP

We'd like to start off with a gigantic thank you to the folks over at Onomatopoeia for basically taking over Red Cup for a while since we've been gone.  You might not have noticed, but some of us have been on vacation while our like-minded friends and co-contributors from 'poeia have been making sure you haven't missed anything worthwhile during these slow months in the world of electronic music.  What you definitely shouldn't have missed is the Perestroika "Very Very Dangerous" EP  co-presented by our two blogs and available for free download.

Now to get to the matter at hand, Onomatopoeia already posted this surprise full album stream of Holy Other's Held LP which will be releasing soon, yet as true Tri Angle Records completionists we thought we'd post it here too for our archives.  We'll be honest with you: we've pre-ordered the record and we suffer from a severe case of vinyl fetishism so we won't actually listen to it until we're putting a needle on its grooves.  Our expectations are so high, it's arrival will be an event over at Red Cup. Perhaps those of you without such  hang ups can tell us what it's like?

Video: José Padilla & Kirsty Keatch - "Helios" (Balam Acab Remix)

Apparently Balam Acab made this remix of "Helios" over a year ago for José Padilla & Kirsty Keatch but it only just came out today via a video. The sound of this one is liquid, you’ll see what I mean once you press play. On a side note apparently combining these three artists essentially equals what I hear as Purity Ring!

Download/Listen: Lindstrøm – “Rà-àkõ-st”

Lindstrøm comes in hard with his latest single "Rà-àkõ-st." The quality tune is the first single from the Norwegian producer’s, as of yet untitled, forthcoming LP.
