Producers Luca
Mortellaro and Juan Mendez (aka Lucy and Silent servant) hit the studio to
collaborate on the "History Survivors" EP, which released
on Mote Evolver. The A-Side "Dormancy Survivors" is euphoric
track with elements industrial techno, whereas the B-Side "Victors
History" leans on more of an
ambient techno sound. All in all, this EP more than a fleeting techno project
as the collaboration amounts to more than the sum of its parts and we're hoping
there's more to come. Listen below to preview the tracks:

After Fengler's contribution to Part 5 of the Berghain compilation, he returns with yet another EP for the Berlin club's imprint Ostgut Ton. The material on the Frantic EP is a development on his previous work on the label and its fluid and funky techno is more suited to the likes of Panorama Bar than Berghain's mainroom dungeon.

The Washington D.C. based duo Benoit & Sergio have been dishing out some quality genre-bending electronic music for a while now with a wide variety of influences. They recently professed their love for their french colleagues - a french duo you might have heard of - in the form of their bold cover of "Around the World". Their latest track to see the light of blog also pays perhaps an even more direct hommage to Daft Punk. Despite the vocals being very characteristic of the D.C. duo, from the choppy riff and snarly bass guitar at the start till the funky vocoded synth lead that shows up at around the 2 minute mark, "New Ships" is Discovery-era Daft Punk with a modern twist:

A new Photek track is always an exciting prospect. One never knows what to expect anymore...dubstep, techno, drum and bass or techy downtempo? What we can expect is something good and this latest track which you can listen to or download below is no exception. "Pyramid", to be featured on his next full-length KU:PALM, is a slow fluid number with quite a few organic elements (bongos, rides, claps and those sneaky eastern string samples) yet the groove is hard-sequenced and the filthy bass undertone is ever present. This is more of that classic Photek aesthetic that feels like it's been labored over methodically in his lab, with a fresh sound palette and slower tempo. Not to be missed.

Yup they've done it again. Tri Angle's latest signing WIFE aka James Kelly of Irish metal band Altar of Plagues fame, sounds as promising as every other addition to the label's impeccable roster. Tri Angle will be releasing new music from WIFE next year, but until then you can watch the video for the track "Bodies" off his Stoic EP out in November on left_blank. This a a guitar driven number, with spooky vocals and woody percussive elements that demonstrate both how much he belongs on the label as well as how he will be taking its niche sound to new directions. The video juxtaposes urban footage with earthy ritualistic scenes which elaborates on a theme that we also hear in the music as a struggle to overcome the alienation of the digital age. Watch the video below or (update) preview the Stoic EP right after:

A long long time ago, when Boards of Canada decided to stop making music (temporarily we still hope) we hit the P2P networks in desperate attempts to find and download any bootleg/unreleased/live recording of the duo we could get our greedy hands on. Sifting through hundreds of tracks, some genuine BoC material some not, one song stood out among the rest. The unreleased track that was performed live at a Warp 10th Birthday party in 2000 with the infectious vocoder (is it saying "the clock is ticking"?) and the electro-ish beat recorded in poor quality crept into our top BoC tracks of all time. We've heard it so many times that the poor recording and crowd noise (many conversations can be heard, phones ringing etc.) feel part of the track now and even make it more Boardsy in a sense. With all this in mind, we were delighted to hear that Machinedrum, who also went through the aforementioned steps, decided to provide a more cleaned up edit, recreating certain elements, yet also maintaining a lot of the original's aesthetic (including the crowd noise). Listen to or download the track below:

Four Tet gets his hand dirty once more with yet another remix for The XX. The first time around, Four Tet delivered a remix of "VCR" from the trio's debut album. This time Four Tet has sprinkled his production magic on Coexist opener "Angels". The remixes could not be any more different from each other, as the first was a near dancefloor shuffle banger, while the "Angels" rework offers up a mere atmospheric shift with barely audible hints of percussion (we think we hear a couple of faint claps at some points and a kick definitely shows up late in the track). Four Tet doesn't exactly take this track to new territory but he does make it his own, demonstrating the subtle similarities between the artists' work in terms of sense of space and atmospherics. Listen to it below:

We've been following Machester based duo Stay+ for a while now and there's no denying their sound is evolving into something quite special. Their latest track to see the light of blog is definitely a testament to this. "Crashed" combines rave anthem vocals with catchy degraded trancy stabs that almost make this sound like an Avici track that you can listen to guilt-free.

Mancunian producer D/R/U/G/S' sound is difficult to pigeonhole in terms of genre, yet one can definitely pin point some recurring themes. For one he does not shy away from the buzzier side of synth textures, which are often complimented by deep ambient pads. He also places a lot of emphasis on melodies and manages to deliver unique manipulations of vocal snippets, a trick that many electronic producers resort to these days yet fail to do so creatively. All of the above holds up on the three track EP that he is offering up for free in exchange for your e-mail (fill in the widget below for your own copy). Opening track "Hemisphere" is a definite highlight and the froggy bassline could easily be the inspiration for the EP's title. Also noteworthy is the third track, "Ring of Endless Light" that sounds a bit like something FSOL would have produced in 2012. If you're interested in catching D/R/U/G/S and you reside in the UK, check out the details of his tour with Delphic here. While the Purple Don's debut LP The Vision as a whole was not much to write home about, Joker's signature take on dubstep remains on the radar of must fans of the genre and continues to impress on the few releases, alt takes and remixes since. The latest track to surface on his soundcloud "Old Era" (to be released on his own imprint Kapsize) is no exception. The arpeggiated blips, a harsh bassline, reminiscent of Squarepusher textures but obviously more sequenced, combined with his efficient dubstep drum patterns are everything we loved about Joker and more, not to mention the artwork is pretty amazing (and purple) too. Preview the track below:

We'd like to start off with a gigantic thank you to the folks over at Onomatopoeia for basically taking over Red Cup for a while since we've been gone. You might not have noticed, but some of us have been on vacation while our like-minded friends and co-contributors from 'poeia have been making sure you haven't missed anything worthwhile during these slow months in the world of electronic music. What you definitely shouldn't have missed is the Perestroika "Very Very Dangerous" EP co-presented by our two blogs and available for free download.

Now to get to the matter at hand, Onomatopoeia already posted this surprise full album stream of Holy Other's Held LP which will be releasing soon, yet as true Tri Angle Records completionists we thought we'd post it here too for our archives. We'll be honest with you: we've pre-ordered the record and we suffer from a severe case of vinyl fetishism so we won't actually listen to it until we're putting a needle on its grooves. Our expectations are so high, it's arrival will be an event over at Red Cup. Perhaps those of you without such hang ups can tell us what it's like?

Producer JacquesGreene's drops the video for "Ready" the title track from his new

releases with LuckyMe and Night Slugs via high profile remixes and on to the
recent formation of his own Vase imprint the Montreal native has been at the
front of his home town's rapidly snowballing acclaim as a creative incubator of
unusual quality, fusing R&B's raw emoting to House and Techno's sleek
propulsion. The Ready EP is a further refinement of the sound he's made his
own, taking it further than ever before but always balancing
aerodynamic efficiency with the unusually organic emotion. The video its self
seems to be a world of miniatures although this could just be trick camera
work, whatever the case both the tune and visuals are top notch.

Back in May we shared something new from UK dub artist SBTRKT, the tune was
reported to be part of a forthcoming ep and today we have yet another new tune
in the form of “Gloss.” I can’t say with certainty that this tune will be
official released as part of the ep but it doesn’t really matter, what does is
we got new music from the man and you can hear it now below….
