Apparently Balam Acab made this remix of "Helios" over a year ago for José Padilla & Kirsty Keatch but it
only just came out today via a video. The sound of this one is liquid, you’ll see
what I mean once you press play. On a side note apparently combining these
three artists essentially equals what I hear as Purity Ring!

Video: Jacques Greene – “Ready”
Producer JacquesGreene's drops the video for "Ready" the title track from his new
EP on Martyn's 3024 label. From early
releases with LuckyMe and Night Slugs via high profile remixes and on to the
recent formation of his own Vase imprint the Montreal native has been at the
front of his home town's rapidly snowballing acclaim as a creative incubator of
unusual quality, fusing R&B's raw emoting to House and Techno's sleek
propulsion. The Ready EP is a further refinement of the sound he's made his
own, taking it further than ever before but always balancing
aerodynamic efficiency with the unusually organic emotion. The video its self
seems to be a world of miniatures although this could just be trick camera
work, whatever the case both the tune and visuals are top notch.

Video: Squarepusher: "Dark Steering"
Looking like some alternate version of Daft Punk or the video game Dead Space, the new visual for Squarepusher's "Dark Steering" from his forthcoming Warp release Ufabulum, out May 15 in the U.S. and May 14 in Europe have arrived. Created by Jenkinson himself, the robotic LED visuals act as a teaser of what we'll see on his upcoming tour.

Squarepusher on Dark Steering:
"For a while I had apocalyptic nightmares about trails of nuclear missiles in the night sky. So I aimed to recreate that strange combination of exhilaration, terror and sadness both visually and emotionally through this piece. It lead to the idea of a spacecraft leaving earth at vast speed to escape, but oddly the music also made me think of it flying through a library. So I generated the visual aspect such that, as the piece progresses, it seems as if the viewer is ever accelerating through massive corridors of books."

Watch: UNKLE - "Another Night Out" Music Video
UNKLE just released a video for one of their stand out tracks from their last album "Where Did the Night Fall". The video"Another Night Out" which features the legendary Mark Lanegan on vocals, captures the emotions of a boxer past his prime (perhaps something James Lavelle can relate to in terms of clubbing?). Watch: ABADABAD - California Birds (Keep Shelly in Athens remix) Music Video
More Keep Shelly in Athens news, this time in the form of one of the cutest music videos since Jordy's "Dur Dur d' etre bebe". The track is the brilliant remix of ABADABAD's "California Birds" by the Greek duo off their "Our Own Dream" EP, which is apparently is a crowd favorite during their current North American Tour. The video (by Brendan Canty) also manages to capture the visual equivalent of hazy memories of ones childhood. Listen and watch below as 2 year old Lola Grainger takes an epic stroll to the tune of KSiA:

Watch: High Places - "Sonora" Music Video
Another day another High Places music video. After "Sophia" the LA based duo is back with an equally awesome yet gruesome music video for "Sonora", a track from their "Original Colors" LP on Thrill Jockey. The track is along the same vein of lazy/hazy electronic music fueled by a characteristic flanger/phaser on the percussion and accompanied by the ethereal and slightly detuned vocals. The video takes places in a universe where spinach has the same effects as it does in the Popeye cartoon (only in the real world spinach infused muscles don't look so good). Watch the video below:

Watch: Patten - "Plurals" Music Video
Don't worry it's not your internet connection giving you a hard time, the video for "Plurals", as well as the song itself, actually begins that way. Come to think of it Patten's choice to use this generation's nuisance in experiencing media, i.e. bandwidth stalling while streaming, was a timely one. Many have creatively manipulated the overcompression effect of bad quality MP3s, but to our knowledge no one has used online streaming problems (the latest and biggest trend in listening to audio) as a source for music. However, Patten doesn't stop here...when we grew up CD skipping was the main issue (Gold Panda used this effect musically on his brilliant "Quitter's Raga"), yet later in the song he goes even further back in the history of audio technical problems, using cassette tape creasing, a wonderfully nostalgic effect (used by Boards of Canada on many of their tracks), on his wobbly and shakey lead synth line. From our description you might have already realized we're talking about an experimental track, yet you might not know that the music of Patten is grounded in techno. His latest album "GLAQJO XAACSSO" on the No Pain in Pop label, is the kind of experimental techno pioneered by Autechre and currently spearheaded by the likes of Actress, whose work we are particularly fond of right now. If you want to read our view on this exciting new direction of electronic music head over to our recent relevant post. Or you could experience the audio/visual cutting edge of this sound below:

Watch: Stay+ - "Fever" Music Video
We loved the track "Fever" by Stay + and told you about it as soon as it came out. Now take a look at the music video for that track which portrays the end of a clubbing night for a girl that had little bit too much of everything...in reverse. "Fever" will be released on November 2nd on Ramp Recordings:
Watch: Joker - "The Vision (Let Me Breathe)" Music Video
We know, we know...we've overposted this track and all its incarnations. However, while we weren't won over by Joker's latest album "The Vision", which you can stream in its entirety here, we're still obsessed with the sheer power of this track, which is aptly reflected in the brand new music video posted below. The video directed by Robert Semmer for "The Vision" (the 'Let Me Breathe' version featuring both Jessie Ware & Freddie Gibbs), is a fast-forward/slow-motion affair à la "300" and it's got abs too only this time they're female. Watch: M83 - "Midnight City" Music Video
Watch the video to M83's squeeky clean synth-pop anthem "Midnight City", which is also the lead single to Anthony Gonzalez' latest album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming". As you might remember by that short trailer we had posted before the release of the album, this Frenchman's massive soundscapes, mid-range vocals and driving synthesizer leads are well suited to visuals. This video, directed by Fleur & Manu, is "a tribute to Village of the Damned, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and other Akiras"....sign us up for more:

Watch: High Places - "Sophia" Music Video
High Places put out some unclassifiable yet instantly gratifying music. Hard as an achievement as that might sound, the LA based duo are back with a third album that does just that. Their Original Colors LP is out on now on Thrill Jockey and you can preview some of the tracks on the duo's blog that also features a myriad of amazing photographs taken on tour and on various other occasions. You should also take a look at this amazing video for album track "Sophia" choreographed and executed by Busy Gangnes and directed by High Places themselves. Both the track and the video share a lazy everyday life hazyness that is bound to conjure "I've felt like this before" emotions. Listen and watch below:
