Further promoting the case for over-the-top maximalist music, Glaswegian Warp artist Rustie (or the fried Mars bar of electronic music as we like to call him) just offered up his Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 performed on April 7th of this year. The mix could turn any party into a sweaty body-colliding mayhem featuring new and old bangers from artists including the like-minded Hudson Mohawke, Clams Casino, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lone not to mention some of his own tracks (for a full playlist and upcoming tour dates head here). This may not be for those still scavenging minimalist soundscapes for subtle and brief moments of genius professed by tiny echoed filter sweeps or those who revel in the hypnotic syncopation of a 10 minute track comprised of a single loop.
