Early this month we posted our favorite Nicolas Jaar track yet featured in his free give away EP "Don't Break my Love" released on his own label Clown & Sunset (go to our post where you can still download it for free). Darkside is Jaar's new collaborative side-project with guitarist Dave Harrington, which will be releasing a self-titled EP on the same label. We're already impressed by the stripped back organic guitar licks combined with Jaar's minimal aesthetic evident on opening track "A1" which you can stream below. Stream the entire EP below:
Nicolas Jaar recently announced a three month European and North American Tour and stated that he would be releasing an EP available for free download on the website of his own label Clown & Sunset. That 2 track EP entitled "Don't Break my Love" will be available tomorrow and we highly suggest you don't miss it. Until then, you can hear the title track of the EP below. The title track is actually our favorite Jaar track yet...it combines dusty filter sweeps with some very unique vocal treatment and a melodic backdrop, sort of like what a loungey techno version of Mount Kimbie would sound like. The last time we heard news from Nicolas Jaar his debut album "Beats in Space" was being pulled off shelves due to the unauthorized use of a sample on one of the tracks (lucky are those who managed to grab a hold of the now limited original version). This new track by the New Yorker/Chilean producer, is essentially a remix for Sneaky Sound System's "Big". It's a stripped back tune with claps, breaths and silence fighting it out in the rhythm section while a guitar lick and a buzzing bass synth set a somber and melodic tone. The track feels big and spacious yet with a very minimal sound palette, which is exactly what Nicolas does best. Listen to it below or download it for free here:
